VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering at UAL

Being a volunteer means being an agent of peace.

The altruistic action of using our time, by choice, to help others, is rewarded with the acquisition and reinforcement of personal, social and professional skills, increasingly valued today.

Active contribution to the community, increasing the network of contacts, approaching opportunities, enriching the curriculum, developing a spirit of initiative and solidarity, knowledge of new contexts and realities, practice before entering the job market , are some of the advantages that volunteering brings.

Volunteering is having the opportunity to leave a mark on the world, to improve it, it is an act of citizenship, according to the UN, multiplied by countless people who lead the ideal of helping, such as Nilton, Catarina Furtado, Mariana Monteiro, Pedro Barroso, José Mourinho, or Emma Watson, Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Roger Waters, Bono Vox, among many others.

Volunteer work at UAL has been carried out for decades, in actions such as the Food Bank, tutoring projects, among others, in line with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

UAL seeks the Voluntary Academic Quality Seal from CASES – António Sérgio Cooperative for the Social Economy, which considers the practices, dynamics and instruments created to promote the practice of volunteering as worthy of such distinction.
