Vitor Oliveira has been an Assistant Professor at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa since 2020. He teaches at the degree and his research interests are related to the study of the financial system, in particular the banking system, its risks (idiosyncratic and systemic), political (micro and macroprudential) and its link to the real economy. He has published in international journals such as the International Journal of Central Banking and Studies in Economics and Finance.
Vitor Oliveira has more than 15 years of professional experience, combining a stint in non-financial companies performing Management control, Financial Management functions, and since 2009 he has been a member of Banco de Portugal where he has been coordinating economist in the area of Macroprudential Policy in the Financial Stability Department. His academic qualifications include a master's degree in finance from ISEG-UL and a PhD in management (specialization in finance) also from ISEG-UL, having concluded it with the classification of “very good and distinguished”.
