He holds a PhD in Industrial Management, specializing in Finance, from the University of Aveiro, a Post-Graduate Degree in Management and Finance from the Harvard Business School and in Finance from the Stanford Graduate School Business and a Degree in Finance from the Instituto Superior de Economia, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa.

He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Business Sciences at UAL and an Invited Assistant Professor at the Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics.

He was Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Portuguese Catholic University of Porto.

He has taught as a Guest Professor, among others, at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, at the Department of Economics, Management and Engineering at the University of Aveiro, and at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) of S. Paulo, Brazil.

He has developed his teaching activity in subjects in the area of Finance in Bachelor's, MBA, Master's, Executive and Executive Masters programs.

At the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Portuguese Catholic University of Porto, he was a member of the Faculty's Board, Director of the Department of Finance and Accounting, Director of the Master's in Finance and Director of the Degree in Management and Business Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the UCP of Porto, having also integrated its Scientific Council of the Faculty.

He has developed research in several areas of corporate finance and financial intermediation.

He has held positions of direction and executive management of companies in Portugal and abroad. It develops consultancy activities in the fields of, namely, the valuation and restructuring of companies, structure and cost of capital, financing of companies and infrastructure projects, economic regulation and the economy and management of public transport systems.
