Joaquim da Cunha Viana, PhD in Computer Science (Pattern Recognition) in 2009 from De Montfort University, Leicester, UK, completed his Master's in Management (Strategic Planning Branch) in 1995 Higher Institute of Economics and Management of the University of Lisbon and degree in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications and Electronics) from the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon in 1978.

In the context of the market, he was an employee of the Portuguese IBM Company, having reached a Management position, and responsible, as Department Director, for the Information Systems Advisory of the Institute of Employment and Professional Training.

Higher Education Teacher since 1998, he taught several subjects related to the scope of his training, at the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra and at several Private Universities in Lisbon, namely at the Autonomous University, to which he is currently linked.

He supervised undergraduate and master's academic work and participated in several juries for master's and doctoral dissertations.
