He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth, a professor at the Department of Economic and Business Sciences and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa. He has a degree in physical education and sport and a master's degree in sport management from the Faculty of Human Motricity, an MBA from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a PhD in business management, with a specialization in finance from the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa – ISCTE. He was director of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, head of the sports division and of the tourism division in the municipality of Sintra, deputy to the Mayor of Oeiras, regional director of Lisbon and Tagus Valley of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth and member of the Management of Movijovem, the entity responsible for managing the network of Pousadas e Juventude and the Youth Card.
