Adrian-Horia Dediu obtained his degree in Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest in 1985. He completed his PhD in Computer Science in 2001 from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and received another PhD from Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), Tarragona, Spain in 2015. He carried out post-doctoral research at URV from 2010 to 2015 and at Technische Universität Dortmund, Germany, in 2007. He currently has more than 45 publications to his credit. His academic career spans teaching positions at the Autonomous University of Lisbon, Portugal, and the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania. He is an Assistant Professor at the Autonomous University of Lisbon, specializing in Computer Science and Engineering. Research interests include evolutionary algorithms, heuristic methods, formal models and representations, with a strong emphasis on machine learning and its applications.
