COMPETITION | ROTARY CLUB OF LISBON – ESTRELA / UAL – LAW DEPARTMENT ON FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS AND ROTARY ACTION

15 Feb 2025

Rotary is a global network of more than 1.2 million community leaders, friends, and neighbors who believe in a world where people come together to make lasting change in themselves, their communities, and the world. Founded by Paul Harris, a lawyer and professional professional, on 23 February 1905, Rotary makes a positive impact around the world.

In this context, the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, through its Law Department, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Lisbon – Estrela, launches a challenge to UAL Law students!

With the goal of finding solutions to many of the world’s problems, more than 46,000 Rotary clubs work toward common purposes, including:

  • Promote peace
  • Support education
  • Protect the environment

These are the three themes proposed for reflective analysis by students of the Law Department of the Autonomous University of Lisbon, in celebration of Rotary's 120th anniversary. The analysis should address the fundamental rights related to these themes and be sent to the email dd@autonoma.pt until the day February 15, 2025. The works will be jointly evaluated by the Rotary Club of Lisbon – Estrela and the Management of the Law Department of UAL.

The top finishers will receive the following prizes:

  • Certificate/diploma of participation for all participants
  • 1st prize: €250 (in cash), plus a diploma
  • 2nd prize: €200 (in cash), plus a diploma
  • 3rd prize: €150 (in cash), plus a diploma
  • Summer Internship: The first three prizes will have the opportunity to complete a one-week internship at the law firm Vitor Marques Moreira & Associados.
