The conference aims to discuss the social and psychological impacts of the multiple transformations underway in Global Geopolitics and International Security, from an interdisciplinary perspective and interconnecting the local, regional and global levels. Topics will range from international conflicts and collective and cultural traumas to the effects of political polarization, new technologies and disinformation, climate change and “eco-anxiety” and the collective dynamics of the terrorist threat.

Luís Tome
Full Professor at the Autonomous University of Lisbon (UAL), where he is the Director for Internationalization, of the Department of International Relations and of OBSERVARE-Observatory of Foreign Relations.
Integrated researcher at the Portuguese Institute of International Relations of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (IPRI-NOVA).
He has been a Guest Professor at the Military University Institute (IUM), the National Defense Institute (IDN), the Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Internal Security (ISCPSI) and the University of Coimbra, and Visiting Professor from La Sapienza-Universitá di Roma- Italy and from the Middle East Technical University (METU) of Ankara-Turkey, as well as from several university institutions in Brazil, Angola and East Timor.
He was Deputy/Technical Specialist for International Relations and Combating Terrorism in the Office of the Minister of Internal Affairs (Nov. 2015 – Oct. 2017); Advisor to the Vice-President of the European Parliament (1999-2004); and NATO Researcher for two years, author of the report “Russia and NATO's Enlargement” (2000).
A researcher in the areas of International Relations, Geopolitics and Security Studies specializing in the Euro-Atlantic, Eurasia and Asia-Pacific regions, he is the author of more than a dozen books and numerous essays and articles published in specialist journals.
He has been a guest speaker at high-level conferences and regularly collaborates with various media outlets, analyzing and commenting on issues of international relations, geopolitics and security.
He holds a degree in International Relations from the Autonomous University of Lisbon (UAL), a Master’s in Strategy from the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP) of the then Technical University of Lisbon and a PhD in International Relations from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC). .
