The exhibition Art beyond the Palace towards Cervantes: one exhibition, two places aims to showcase and celebrate the richness and diversity of Spanish art, particularly the works of Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró.
Viewing the works of Dalí and Miró in a “joint” exhibition offers the opportunity to appreciate the points of intersection, but also the particularities of two distinct visions of surrealism. Dalí, with a provocative imagination, and Miró, exploring a different perspective of the subconscious.
From La Vida es Sueño to La Melodía Ácida, the aim is to promote an enriching dialogue between art and the public, in an itinerant proposal, which will take place between a palace – the Palácio dos Condes de Redondo, headquarters of UAL – and, on the other side of the street (from Santa Marta) – the Instituto Cervantes.
This exhibition will enrich the understanding of the Spanish surrealist movement and will contribute to the enrichment of the school community that will be in contact with the work of these two artists.
In partnership with the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER), it is proposed to exhibit between May and July 2025, a set of engravings that constitute part of FUNIBER's Cultural Work, contributing to the mission of spreading culture in different places around the world.
This initiative will also strengthen cultural and academic ties between the participating institutions, specifically between UAL and the Instituto Cervantes, cooperation partners since 2019, and between these and FUNIBER, with which CEU (the founding entity of UAL) signed a collaboration agreement more recently, opening up a space for planning future exhibitions.
