OPEN CLASS | INTERDISCIPLINARITY IN ARCHAEOLOGY: THE ROLE OF BIOANTHROPOLOGY AND ARCHAEOTHANATOLOGY

17 Dec 2024 - 16:00

room 80

As a science that studies the Human Being, Archaeology is structurally interdisciplinary. This open class will focus on two fundamental disciplines: Bioanthropology, which studies the biological remains of individuals, and Archaeothanatology, which seeks to reconstruct mortuary contexts, rituals and funerary practices. The class will cover the field and laboratory components, as well as ethical aspects, from the perspective of one of the greatest experts in the field in Portugal, but in a way that is understandable to those who are not experts in the field.
