The Krahō people refer to themselves as Mehhi, which means “the people” in their language. This term is central to their identity, reflecting their cultural and social unity. The Krahō belong to the Timbira subgroup within the Jê language family, a group of indigenous languages spoken in central Brazil. The use of Mehhi not only represents their membership in this cultural group, but also their collective self-identification as a distinct community within the broader indigenous context.
This conference is the result of a photographic and experiential compilation with these people and direct testimony of their activities and daily lives.
