The theme “Human Rights and Sex Education in Higher Education Institutions in Brazil and Portugal” addresses the importance of sex education as a tool for the promotion of human rights. The study compares the approach to sex education in higher education institutions in Brazil and Portugal, analyzing the role of public policies and legislation in promoting inclusive and responsible sex education. The work highlights the need for a sexual education that goes beyond biological information and that promotes the integral development of the individual, with an approach that contemplates sexual and gender diversity. The study also discusses the importance of sex education in preventing sexually transmitted infections and promoting sexual and reproductive health. The work also addresses the challenges faced by higher education institutions in the implementation of an inclusive sex education, such as the resistance of some sectors of society and the lack of adequate training of the professionals involved. Finally, the study presents some recommendations for the promotion of responsible and inclusive sexual education in higher education institutions, aiming at guaranteeing human rights and promoting gender equality and sexual diversity.
