STRESS AND TIME MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP

This Workshop aims to provide students with simple tools and techniques for stress management and time management that allow them to better control the various anxiety factors such as assessment periods; being displaced from their usual residence, initial contact with the university, exhaustion caused by poor time management and disregard for the natural cycles of activity and rest, leading to poor energy management.

The knowledge and tools acquired allow you to achieve better academic results with less effort and anxiety, increase self-confidence and improve relationships with colleagues and teachers.

This Workshop will have Professor José Magalhães as speaker.

STRESS AND TIME MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP

At UAL on May 21, 2024, José Magalhães, Psychologist and Professor, was the speaker of another dynamic and interactive Workshop, within the scope of the Ambition, Stress and Time Management Project, in the class taught by Professor Isabel Souto, at 1st year Psychology students.

Stress and Anxiety in a school context are normal reactions that one must know how to manage through knowledge and appropriate behaviors.

But one of the concerns nowadays is the frequent states of panic that have been encountered among students, due to not being able to speak in public or present their work. To overcome panic, there are rules and training that can be done at home, but the student must always be aware of whether they are on the right course.

A variable little talked about in stress management is fatigue, which is one of the most important components, on a physical and psychological level, whether in professional, academic or family life and which often results from inadequate sleep. This results in not only physical and mental fatigue, but also sensory fatigue, reducing the visual and auditory field. Not only is not getting about 7 to 8 hours of sleep essential, the sleep cycle should also not be interrupted.

Some of the principles for a healthy life are: balancing personal life with workload, scheduling tasks, avoiding fatigue and sleep disorders, creating suitable environments for studying and monitoring health status.

There are several signs that reveal stress, where at first stress can improve performance, but without adequate rest, it leads to exhaustion and negative stress. Learning takes place through positive emotions, where rest and organization of time and tasks are essential.

It is through valuing positive emotions that we will be able to change the discourse, making our success and organizational success a constant path that enhances creativity and innovation.
