The Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL) recognizes the student volunteer as an active agent of peace, as “Volunteering is an activity inherent to the exercise of citizenship that translates into a solidary relationship with others, participating, in an free and organized, in the solution of problems that affect society in general” (decree-law n.º 389/99, of September 30).
Thus, with a view to greater social dialogue and in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, UAL determines the following:
- Students who do 25 or more hours of volunteer work per year are entitled to Student Volunteer status.
- The maintenance of this status depends on theschool performance in the previous school year.
- Volunteering activities can be one-off volunteering or regular volunteering.
- In the volunteer activity, the student can collaborate in the organization of projects, events or actions organized by UAL or by an external entity registered for this purpose with UAL, in the social, cultural, sporting, cultural domain, among others of peer support .
- Students who carry out volunteer activities are entitled to:
- Issuance of a certificate of participation, with a description of the activities carried out and the number of hours worked (issued by UAL);
- Information/training on the voluntary activity to be carried out, provided by the promoter of the action;
- Mention of volunteer work in the Diploma Supplement;
- The possibility of enrolling in the special exam period;
- Offer of copies of Autónoma editions;
- Registration for the Volunteer Scholarship is permanently open.
- At the end of the volunteer activity, the student must prepare a Summary Report.
- The reading of this Statute must be complemented with the Framework Principles for Volunteering of the Autonomous University of Lisbon.
