The III Seminar “Academic success and prevention of dropout in Higher Education” was held on March 25th, in the António Arnaut Auditorium, at the Escola Superior de Enfermagem de Coimbra with the presentation of the AMBITION Project, developed by the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa and the Centro of Knowledge Transfer – CTC Autónoma, represented by Guida Donário, in partnership with the Escola Superior de Educação João de Deus, represented by Filomena Moreira da Silva, still ongoing, but already showing surprising results.
This project belongs to the 2nd phase of the Program for Promoting Success and Reducing Dropout in Higher Education, and the projects from the 1st phase of the Program were also presented, which are now completed. In the AMBITION Project, the focus was on Pedagogical Innovation, on the importance of new teaching-learning practices, with active student participation and the application of new teaching methodologies by teachers. The AUTÓNOMA CAMPUS, which has been an active part of the AMBITION Project, through the carrying out of numerous activities and Workshops, proves to be a plan of action and pedagogical innovation, centered on the student, which seeks to develop their socio-behavioral skills, their well-being -psychological and emotional well-being and the development of their academic, professional and personal training.
Mentoring, Tutoring, and student support offices, GAE and GIRU – University Inclusion and Resilience Office, stand out through the development and application of new technologies such as AI Virtual Tutoring (Chatbot), new Platforms multi-company monitoring and follow-up, measuring the impact of the actions carried out, evaluating the adoption of different responses and identifying which ones produce the best results, achieving early signaling of students at risk of failure and/or abandonment, supported by the correlation of metrics obtained by consulting different systems.
Present, among the representatives of the various Universities and Polytechnics, were Pedro Nuno Teixeira, Secretary of State for Higher Education and Elvira Fortunato, Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education.
