LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK WORKSHOP

UAL, Palácio dos Condes de Redondo – 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm with Professor João Paulo Feijó

Teamwork is an essential component of teaching-learning strategies based on student participation and collaboration. The effective functioning of a team requires the assumption of leadership behaviors by one or more of its members, which will have more impact the greater their skills in this area.

This activity aims to awaken students to fundamental aspects of leadership and correct possible prejudices and erroneous ideas in this field. Additionally, it aims to enable students to take on a leadership role in their study teams whenever necessary to improve their performance and achievement.

AMBITION Project – CAMPUS Autónoma/ESEJD. Workshop – Leadership and Teamwork

Another Leadership and Teamwork Workshop took place at UAL, led by Professor João Paulo Feijoo, aimed at the 3rd year of Communication Sciences, students of Professor Carmen Monereo, after work.

On a day-to-day basis, organizations work based on teamwork, as the tasks they have to perform are increasingly complex and require the participation of several people from different specialties who have to work with each other. others, to be effective, consume the minimum of resources and achieve results faster, this is where the
leader plays his role.

The mentimeter.com application was used, where, in real time, students chose the most correct answer in relation to the attitudes that a leader should have. The Situational Leadership Model was presented with several leadership options, depending on the situation the team faces, based on two factors: Competence in relation to the Task and the Motivation that exists in the Relationship between team members.

The led followers can also help with the effectiveness of the team and the work, which was explained through multiple choice answers from mentimeter.com, and real-life cases were also presented. The four qualities of a good follower were presented: Proactivity, Independence of spirit, Loyalty and Humility. Psychological safety must also be present, not being punished or humiliated for expressing your ideas, asking questions, making mistakes resulting from well-intentioned initiatives and for taking risks without being criticized or frowned upon by colleagues.

Power distance was explained: in a hierarchy, the greater the power distance, the greater the inequalities, with power being a status where you are served by teams. Where the power distance is smaller, an authority gained through prestige, justice and recognition is established, which provides a service and helps the teams.

But the greatest power is that of praise and recognition, as validation and approval of our actions and competence, motivating our behavior to perform our functions well and even surpass previous ones. They help to strengthen social ties and create more positive connections between people, through appreciation and respect, consolidating relationships.

Praise also helps to increase our self-esteem and confidence, which allows employees to be more focused, satisfied and committed to the organization's objectives.
