Even taking into account the fact that Turkey is one of the European Union's main partners, even within the scope of international institutions, the strategy of its President [Erdogan], apparently somewhat erratic, and with recourse to a systematic internal repression against opponents to its political orientation, especially since the alleged coup attempt in 2016, has placed the country at a crossroads, whose outcome is still unpredictable. Objectively, relations between the parties have not been easy. It is precisely about the current climate of uncertainty or uncertainty regarding European Union-Turkey relations that, clearly, it is important to promote a serious debate on the future of a partnership that, increasingly, proves to be decisive both for the European Union, as for this emerging regional power.
