This conference will focus on the emergence and importance of gender studies, presenting the “feminist revolution” from the point of view of the social sciences. Topics covered will include: how gender (as a social concept) has become an analytical category in the social sciences, how the feminist perspective has influenced the analysis and understanding of various social issues (such as violence against women), and how studies have influenced the political sphere in relation to gender equality and women's rights.
