In this presentation, we will discuss about developing educational technologies for children, including children with visual impairments and research initiatives in public elementary schools using different technologies to improve mathematical abilities, working memory and visuospatial reasoning, executive functions and computational thinking. Most of our projects have potentiated training possibilities by adding multisensory systems that interact with real objects, to create meaningful embodied and playful experiences. Also, the project will highlight the use of Participatory approaches and Human-Computer Interaction methodologies to include children in the research process. Besides empowering children in the process, it also potentiates the development of educational technologies since the beginning; with more possibilities to be engaging, motivating and importantly, effective.
