The lecture aims to share the investigation carried out on the handwritten copy of a codex existing in the bookstore of the Counts of Linhares, in Lisbon, during much of the 19th century. The study of this copy allowed us to unravel the trajectory of the original codex, containing one of the main accounts of the Vila Rica Revolt in 1720, in the captaincy of São Paulo and Minas do Ouro. But it also makes it possible to perceive the second environment of reception and reading of one of the most cited documents in the history of Minas Gerais and Brazil in the Modern Period. Therefore, this exhibition combines aspects of social, book and intellectual histories.
