Bringing together into one theme the set of variables that are most important for individual and social well-being is what happens when we want the focus of analysis and reflection to be on the adolescent. This is verified and confirmed when we observe the strategic hustle and bustle of various “social lobbying” groups in attracting and capturing adolescents. We are talking about fashion; the food industry; sexuality; the economy; spirituality; … and many others.
Adolescence is a time of essential fragility, even vulnerability, and it was not long ago integrated into our phylogenetic path. It is an acquisition of our species, through Culture, which is rooted in its evident advantage for each individual and for others.
In this context, there is an urgent need for knowledge of today's rapidly changing sociocultural reality; of the set of challenges; of the potential consequences of effective or absent responses; in short... we need to combine efforts from academia and society so that Adolescents receive, in an eminently subsidiary way, the support that science and prudence should provide them, to make them autonomous, critical and, in any case, free to create their own Future.
