Organization and moderation: Bárbara Silva. José Manuel Fernandes was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1953. Architect graduated from the School of Fine Arts of Lisbon in 1977. Professor, PhD in 1993, Full Professor (2010) in History of Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University, Lisbon . Member of the Editorial Board of Monumentos magazine since 1994. First President of DOCOMOMO Ibérico, 1993-97. Guest lecturer at the Department of Architecture of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, and its Director in the period 1998/2000. Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art of the Ministry of Culture in 2001/2003. Investigates, writes and publishes regularly on subjects of History, Architecture and Urbanism.
