In the year in which the Universal Declaration of Human Rights turns 75 years old and the United Nations defined freedom, equality and justice for all as the theme for celebrations, professors from the Law Department of the Autonomous University of Lisbon and researchers from the Research and Development Center in Legal Sciences Ratio Legis, Alex Sander Pires, António Pedro Ferreira, Patrícia Cardoso Dias and Pedro Trovão do Rosário, resolved, attentive to contemporary challenges for the enjoyment of human rights from an internal and international perspective, and in the areas of multilaterality of problems, to organize the Commemorative Conference to stimulate reflection on the most sensitive topics in order to contribute to the development of institutes and the progress of human relations in accordance with the values of freedom, equality and justice. The eighteen conferences were designed to allow consideration of sensitive topics, allowing the interlocutor, critically or analytically, to form their convictions from the points of view of professors and researchers from ten universities based in five countries.
