This first International Seminar on Criminology – Migrations, Human Trafficking and Human Rights: Dialogues between Brazil and Portugal/Europe aims to promote a multidisciplinary dialogue that starts from the perspective of criminology to analyze different topics addressed annually in this Curricular Unit: from human trafficking and its relationship with migrations, vulnerabilities and human rights, from hate crimes to biogenetics and corruption; from restorative justice, through domestic violence to incarceration (also among women).
The organization is the result of a long-standing cooperation between the organizers, professors from the Autonomous University of Lisbon (Portugal) and researchers from Ratio Legis, from UAL (especially within the scope of the Projects Corpus Delicti and Culture of Peace and Democracy), professors of International Relations from UAL and the Federal University of Pará (Brazil), with the participation of the University of Leiden (Netherlands), Institute of Political Sciences of Toulouse (France), University of Coimbra and School of Criminology, University of Porto & CIJ and Interdisciplinary Research Center in Justice.
Two books will be presented during the event: a Springer publication, “New Forms of Human Trafficking”, with the active participation of Doctors Anabela Miranda Rodrigues and Maria João Guia; and a JurisGuia publication, “Cadernos de Criminologia”, with the participation of professors, researchers and students of the Masters courses in Law, specialization in Criminal Law Sciences and Law, specialization in Police Law Sciences at UAL, as well as students and professors of the Law courses at the Federal University of Pará (Brazil) and the different institutions participating in this seminar, as well as other professors and researchers, invited annually within the scope of this Curricular Unit taught at UAL. The objective is to foster academic and scientific cooperation as well as critical thinking in the area of Criminology and contribute to the dynamization of a space for active debate at UAL, within the scientific community.
