Laure Peter-Derex is a neurologist specialising in sleep medicine, epileptology and neurophysiology. She is assistant professor in Physiology at Lyon 1 University and co-head of the Centre for Sleep Medicine and Respiratory Diseases of the Hospices Civils de Lyon. Her research topics include the study of sleep physiology and sleep-wake transitions using scalp and intracranial EEG recordings as well as the interactions between neurological pathologies (epilepsy, stroke…) and sleep. She is particularly interested in boundaries between states of vigilance, and discordant micro-states (arousals during sleep, micro-sleeps during wakefulness), their local regulation, their subjective correlates, and their use as biomarkers of sleep and neurological diseases.
