PhD in History and Culture of the Ancient Middle East, by FCSH-UNL, Master in Pre-Classical Societies, Cultures and Civilizations by FL-UL, with internships at UCLA, University of Basel and American University in Cairo, Degree in History by UAL, having received research grants from FCT, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian and FLAD.

He has developed academic work in the Middle East - from High Antiquity to the Present, History of Religions, Culture and Heritage, Interculturality, International Business, Geopolitics and Contemporary History.
