He has a degree in History and a postgraduate degree in Communications Advisory from the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, where he is Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences.

He received his PhD in December 2007 from the Faculty of Information Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid, with the thesis An Instrument of Consensus in the New State: “Panorama, Portuguese magazine of art and tourism” (1941-1949).

He has published on topics within the political and cultural propaganda of Salazarism. He is an integrated researcher at CEIS20, Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the 20th Century, University of Coimbra.

He has participated in colloquia, conferences and other initiatives within the scope of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, the University of Extremadura, the Institute of Social Sciences, the Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril, the Sociedade de Geografia, IGESPAR, the Biblioteca Nacional, the Torre do Tombo National Archive, the Casa Veva de Lima Association, the Portuguese Communications Foundation, Rádio Renascença and RTP2.

He started his advertising activity at Young & Rubicam and was responsible for the Communication Offices of Unisys Portugal and ICL Fujitsu Portugal. He was a member of the jury of the Cannes Lions advertising awards.

He is a member of the Advisory Board of the António Quadros Foundation.

He is a member of the Scientific Council of UAL. He has been a member of CEU – Cooperativa de Ensino Universitário, since 1986.
