The objectives of the international conference that brings together several specialists in Migration from different scientific areas (economics, sociology, political science, law), analyze the contribution of international migrations to Sustainable Development, reflect on European immigration policy and its impact on the regulation of international migrations and make a critical analysis of the guiding principles and objectives of the Global Compact, with a special focus on its contribution to the realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
It was also intended to contribute to the dissemination, in Portugal, of this United Nations initiative, which, more than ever, is an opportunity for the development of migration policies based on respect for human rights and the recognition that international migrations safe and regulated should be something that should unite the entire international community and not a factor of dissent and division. The publication of the interventions is also intended to provide a contribution to this discussion, which is intended to be global and clarified.
