Hélder Prior is a professor of Political Communication and Media in Brazil and Public Space and Digital Communication at the Department of Communication Sciences at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, working in Master's and Doctoral courses. He is currently a visiting professor at the Postgraduate Program in Communication at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (Brazil), where he teaches Research Methodologies in Communication and Communication and Policy, in addition to advising the Master in Communication.

PhD in Communication Sciences from the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Beira Interior (2013), with the unanimous rating of Excellent and mention “Doctor Europaeus” for the doctoral studies he developed at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2008-2012), in a doctoral project funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology. He carried out a Post-Doctoral internship, financed by CAPES/Governo Brasileiro, at the Faculty of Communication of the University of Brasília, having acted as a guest professor in undergraduate, masters and doctoral courses (2014, 2015 and 2017). Between 2016 and 2018, he developed new postdoctoral research at the Communication, Philosophy and Humanities Research Center (LabCom.Universidade da Beira Interior), and at the Observatorio Iberoamericano de la Comunicación of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, sponsored by the Foundation for Science and The technology. He was a guest professor in the Master's course in Political Science at the University of Beira Interior (2016).

He is an integrated researcher at LabCom (UBI), and a collaborating researcher at Observare (UAL), at the Observatorio Iberoamericano de la Comunicación at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, at the Center for Studies in Media and Politics at the University of Brasília and at the Marketing Center at the School of Communication at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is the author of the book Public Sphere and Political Scandal (Media XXI, 2016), and co-editor of the works Lusophone Dialogues in Communication and Politics (LabCom, 2016) and (Des)Building a Fall: The Media and Impeachment by Dilma Rousseff, edited by Insular. He is also co-author of the Encyclopedic Dictionary of Political Communication, edited by the Centro de Estudios Políticos y Constitucionales (Madrid, 2015).
