Sciences and Technologies

The Sciences and Technologies Department (DCT) is a multidisciplinary unit in the field of technologies. The Department is responsible Bachelor Degrees in Computer Engineering; Computing and Management and and in Electronic Systems and Telecommunication. Moreover, it hosts Research & Development activities related technology.

The high level of graduate employability and the continuous recruitment of graduates by employers demonstrates the high quality standards of the study cycles offered at UAL. Besides the study cycles already in operation, others have been prepared and are currently waiting approval to initiate.

The Department has recently opted for a new strategy, which includes enhancing the available laboratories, increasing R&D activities (as a result of the recent creation of the Technology Research Centre - UAL LabTech) and the signing of partnerships with external entities, such as the Task Group for the Extension of the Portuguese Continental Shelf and the Department of Oceanography and Fisheries of Azores Universities. These partnerships have enhanced the research strand in Sea Technologies.

The partnership with the R&D company YDreams has boosted applied research at UAL, allowing students to develop final projects and providing them access to well-equipped labs and the possibility to interact with multidisciplinary teams.

The Department´s staff includes 90% of PhDs, who comply to the criteria of quality, experience and expertise, both at scientific and at pedagogical levels, and are available to assist students in their learning process.

This strategy envisions UAL enhancing its position as a reference instituion in the field of technology among Portuguese Universities.

Come study with us and we´ll help you to make a difference.
