Nowadays it is agreed that the Humanities play a fundamental role in the higher education of individuals regardless of the professional activities they pursue. The best form to relaunch the role of the Humanities in an innovative way adapted to the present and anticipating the needs of the future is a topic of current debate.
The History, Arts and Humanities Department (DHAH) has a teaching tradition of 30 years. It has always addressed both the initial education of young people and further training throughout life, which is the reason it has always provided training opportunities in the early evening for working students.
On the other hand, we aim to meet the demand for an open and interdisciplinary perspective on the part of students who have attended university elsewhere and turn to our Department to advance their knowledge.
The diversity of professional positions attained by our History graduates attests the quality and recognition of the degree by national institutions. Many of our graduates work in the management and safeguarding of the country’s artistic, historical and archaeological heritage.
The teaching activities of the Department are conducted in three study cycles: Bachelor in History, Master Degree in History, Archaeology and Heritage and the PhD in History, a range that allows the full training of students from general to advanced education, in several areas of scientific expertise.
